2025 is well underway so what’s going on here!
Our postage rate is now £6.00 per order for orders under £50.00. Over that, excepting kits it is and remains free to you the customer. The cost of a “Large Letter” 1st class stamp has risen sharply in the last few years, and in 2025 there have now been 2 large increases, now the stamp alone costs £3.15 to which the other costs need to be covered. We hope you understand that this increase is needed just to cover costs. For those ordering more than £50.00 worth of castings we still offer the small reward of free postage.
As ever, from time to time, we are wait for fresh stock, and we thank you for your patience when delivery is delayed. Energy costs and material costs continue to be challenging, but most of the time we seem to have stock of what you are asking for. Our suppliers continue to do their best to supply us within a reasonable timescale, for which we are very thankful.
For the few who still use a cheque and send an order letter, we will continue to accept these, but – Ensure your cheque is payable to – “L GRIFFIN” only.

NEW/IMPROVED ITEMS
We haven’t added any new items recently, but we are undertaking a steady process of upgrading castings. some of the moulds are now wearing and are being remade, and often with improvements to patterns gained in the light of experience where the castings have shown we haven’t got them quite right! We are also continuing the policy of replacing white metal castings with brass or nickel silver. Apart from feedback from customers telling us this is what they prefer in the last few years more than one of our good quality and reliable whitemetal suppliers have stopped production, sadly in more than one case because the owner has passed on to the the “big engine shed in the sky”!
2025 has been a year of consolidation, as previously detailed more of our castings have been upgraded to Brass or Nickel Silver from previously used Whitemetal. Where this has been done it is noted on the individual item description, and where this is so even though the photo may still show whitemetal they will when received by you be brass or n/sliver as listed.
The next items to be upgraded thus are –
4-009 LMS Stanier Tender Brake and Water Scoop Column Covers and Handles 2 + 2 of each, and will cost £15.00/set. These consist of the tapered cover from footplate level upwards on the front plate of these tenders, with a separate base plate and handle mounted on the vertical surface of the tender above the covers.
29-001 GER Tender Axleboxes, springs and hangers. We are currently awaiting the new stock but when they come in the cost will be £35.00/set of 6 axleboxes, 6 springs & 12 spring hangers.
